Misool is part of the area known as Raja Ampat, but gets its own section because not all Raja Ampat liveaboard cruises sail there, and there is a wonderful eco resort on the island which offers local day trips and shore diving. It really is a remarkable location for scuba diving, and has crystal-clear water, with healthy reefs from deep down right up to the surface at low tide. It’s difficult to know where to start when trying to describe the diving experiences to be had at Misool, such is the abundance of life that flourishes on the hard & soft coral reefs and is fed by the nutrient-rich currents from deep seas for miles around. Whether divers visit Misool by liveaboard cruise or stay at the environmentally-friendly resort, the diving will be incredible.
Getting there – There are currently only two ways to get to Misool for diving. The most common is as part of a liveaboard diving cruise, normally sailing from or to Sorong and including Raja Ampat’s other islands. The other is by the eco resort’s private speedboat from Sorong.
